Bamboo Toothbrush (Pack of 4)

A simple everyday toothbrush with a natural bamboo handle instead of a plastic one. Four brushes in a pack — enough for a full year if you change your brush every three months, as dentists generally advise.

What it is made of

• Handle: natural bamboo, left plain and unvarnished.
• Bristles: soft nylon, set in a rounded head.

An honest note on "biodegradable"

The bamboo handle will compost. The bristles will not — nylon bristles are standard across every bamboo toothbrush on the market, ours included, and no one has managed a fully compostable bristle yet. So when the brush is worn out, pull the bristles out with pliers, put them in your regular waste, and the handle can go into your compost or garden soil.

We would rather say that plainly than put a green label on the pack that does not hold up.

How to use

• Brush twice a day, gently, for about two minutes.
• Rinse well after each use and stand it upright so the handle dries. Bamboo lasts longest when it is not left sitting in water.
• Replace every three months, or sooner if the bristles splay.
